This morning just after 1 a.m., Nampa Police Officers were sent to West Dewey in Nampa for a report of an auto burglary that had just occurred.

The resident at that location had heard and then observed two males exiting one of his vehicles. The victim got a good description of the two males and gave that to police. Three unlocked vehicles were entered that were parked in front of the victim’s residence.

The two males were located by officers in the 600 block of S. Pine and were detained. They were identified as Joel D. Root, 33 years old and Bryan L. Harvey, 24 years old. Property from the three vehicles that were unlawfully entered was found to be in the possession of Root. Root was charged with Burglary and Harvey was charged with Accessory to the crime of Burglary and both were booked into the Canyon County Jail on those charges.

The Nampa Police Department would like to remind vehicle owners to make sure you lock your vehicle when it is unattended. Also, do not leave valuables in the vehicle out in plain sight and most preferably, do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Most of the burglaries from automobiles occur with vehicles that were left unlocked or those that have expensive items that were left out in plain view.
