Bujak's charge downgraded from grand theft to misuse of public funds
During the second day of testimony in the preliminary hearing against former Canyon County prosecuting attorney John Bujak, his charge was downgraded from grand theft to misusing public funds.
No reason was given for the change, but according to the Idaho Statesman, the defense for Bujak waived a preliminary hearing on the new charge, so it will go directly to district court. Arraignment is scheduled for March 28.
Bujak resigned after allegedly taking $236,000 from the county in a contract he had with the City of Nampa.
