Boise Police investigate fatal shooting, now listed as a homicide
Boise Police detectives are investigating an overnight shooting that left one man dead.
According to Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower, officers were called to a home near N. Curtis Road and Cruzen Street Monday night about 11:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim lived at the home.
A man officers found on the scene, Gregory M. Shain, 22, Meridian, was eventually arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting, Hightower said.
Officials have not said what led to the fatal shooting.
Idaho code defines voluntary manslaughter as the unlawful killing of a human being upon a sudden quarrel or heat of passion.
The Ada County Coroner released the name of the victim as Gary Dean Alan Jr., 23-years old. The cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head, with the manner of death listed as homicide.
Shain is expected to make his initial court appearance on the charge Tuesday afternoon.
