Crash near Blackfoot takes the life of an Idaho Falls man
Last night around 6:00 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 15 near milepost 95 near Blackfoot.
Francisco Lazalde, 86 of Idaho Falls, was traveling northbound, when for unknown reasons his vehicle left the roadway, went off the right shoulder and traveled down into the borrow pit for a short distance before hitting a fallen tree. The impact caused his vehicle to go airborne and impact an embankment before coming to rest on its wheels in a canal. Lazalde was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lazalde was wearing a seatbelt. The roads were wet, but clear at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The crash is still under investigation by Idaho State Police, Bingham County Sheriff's Deputies, and Black Foot Fire Personnel.
