Les Bois will open racing season May 2
Treasure Valley Racing at Les Bois Park is preparing for the 2012 live race meet that begins Wednesday May 2 running through August 11.
Spearheading the spring training activities is the new management team at Les Bois Park. Kerry Lawson has been named General Manager of Les Bois Park and Tim Thibert will take over the reins as Les Bois Parks Racing Secretary. Both have longstanding knowledge and experience in the horse racing industry professionally and personally.
“We are very excited to bring back live horse racing to the Treasure Valley and are committed to making this 36 day season a great experience for horse racing enthusiasts and patrons,” said General Manager Kerry Lawson. “Les Bois Park boasts an over 40 year live horse racing history and has been an integral part of the economic stability for the horse industry in Idaho. Les Bois Park is now 100% Idaho owned and the new principals have invested their resources in personnel, equipment and are making significant capital improvements at the track in order to insure the live and simulcast racing program has a strong future in Idaho.”
The race track and stable area are now open for Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses. More than 200 horses have just arrived and the trainers and riders will begin preparing for the 36 day meet. Les Bois Park has already accepted over 817 applications and has a waiting list of over 300 horses. Officials expect over 600 horses to arrive in the next 30 days. As horses move in, the heavy equipment has begun the process of upgrading the track’s composition and resurfacing the three-quarter mile oval.
