Car theft early this morning ends in car crashing into residence
Boise Police responded to a report of a stolen passenger car on the 900 block of North Maple Grove this morning, around 6:00 a.m. The victim tells police she had started her car and left it running to warm up, when she returned, the car was gone.
At around 6:45 a.m. officers spotted the vehicle on the road near Maple Grove and Susan Streets. Using emergency lights and siren, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle and its two juvenile male occupants refused to yield to the officers.
Instead of stopping, the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed. Officers did not actively chase the vehicle for public safety reasons. Moments later officers witnessed the vehicle lose control as it crashed into a residence near Hampton and Irvine streets. The two juvenile suspects immediately exited the vehicle and attempted to run from the scene of the crash. Officers briefly chased the suspects on foot and they were taken into custody.
Both juvenile male suspects will face Grand Theft charges and minor consumption of alcohol in juvenile court. The driver will face charges for driving without a license. Because both suspects are juveniles, their identities are not being released.
