The city of Boise is looking into whether traditional parking meters are out of date. The city's parking department plans on testing out new electronic parking meters, this upcoming spring.

The Downtown Boise Association says two types of electronic meters will be tested; single space ones that are placed in every parking space and multi-space meters that are placed in every block.

These new electronic parking meters will not only take coins, but also cash, debit and credit cards.

Capital City Development Corporation and the City of Boise Parking Department will conduct the project on certain parts of Downtown Boise. The new parking meters will be installed in April.

The electronic meters will be on 8th Street from Bannock to Main, and the on S. 8th from Front to Broad and Broad from 9th to Capital Blvd.

Then, if the meters get good reviews, the city will consider changing all of the old parking meters to electronic ones.
