On Thursday February 16, Caldwell Police Street Crimes Unit detectives performed a traffic stop on a vehicle near 22nd & Cleveland in Caldwell. The passenger who had identified himself as Alejandro Guzman was arrested for carrying a concealed knife.

Detectives were suspicious of Guzman’s real identity since he had no state identification, what appeared to be a fictitious Social Security card and conflicting stories about where he was from. He was transported from the traffic stop to Caldwell Police Department for further questioning and investigation.

After an extensive interview, it was ultimately discovered that the male passing himself as “Alejandro Guzman” was actually a wanted fugitive from California by the name Luis Jose Munoz. Munoz was wanted by California authorities for a felony charge of sexual abuse of a minor under 16 years of age.

Munoz is an admitted California gang member and had been hiding out in the Canyon County area for several months under the alias “Alejandro Guzman”. Munoz was arrested and booked into the Canyon County Jail on the above listed charges.
