Wanted Boise man arrested after allegedly stealing a car Monday morning
Boise Police received a report of a stolen vehicle taken from a parking lot on West Franklin early Monday morning, January 30th, at around 5:40 a.m. The victim tells police the vehicle had been left unlocked with the key in the ignition and it had been taken some time that morning. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as a stolen car later that morning.
On Tuesday, January 31st at around 4:15 a.m. a Boise Police officer spotted the vehicle being driven West on Sherwood Street near La Ponte. The officer lost sight of the vehicle momentarily and officers located it, abandoned, in a parking lot on the 800 block of Sherwood street with the driver's door partially open.
Officers located the suspect on foot a short distance away with the key to the vehicle on his person. A check through Ada County Dispatch indicated the suspect, Mark Sackett, 48 of Boise, had a current warrant for his arrest on parole violation charges and was currently suspended from driving.
A search of the suspect's person revealed a small amount of marijuana and a syringe. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
