Boise Police have arrested a man and charged him with burglary after citizen tips helped identify him as a suspect in the recent theft of a housing complex change machine.

Boise Police began receiving citizen tips on the identity of the burglary suspect after security photos showing the theft were released to the public last December 21. The theft was reported Nov. 2, 2011.

After following up on the tips, Boise Police property crimes detectives identified Earl S. Kinnaird, of Boise, as the suspect. He was arrested on a parole violation Jan. 19. Boise Police arrested him on the burglary charge while in jail Tuesday. After investigating, officers found the security photos, which initially appeared to show two suspects, indeed showed the same suspect in two different sets of clothing coming back to the scene later to try and clean up some of the evidence.

"We can't thank citizens enough for helping us identify this suspect," said Sgt. Randy Buzzini of the Boise Police Property Crimes Unit. "This suspect was on parole for a similar crime. We hope identifying him and making the arrest will help protect other people's property."
