Mayor David Bieter has named Rebecca Hupp, an airport executive with 18 years of experience, to be the new director of the Boise Airport. Hupp replaces Richard McConnell, who left his position last November.

Hupp has served as director of Bangor International Airport in Bangor, Maine since 2001.

“The Boise Airport is a major economic driver for Boise and all of southwest Idaho,” Mayor Bieter said. “It is critical that it has a dynamic leader with the vision and expertise to guide the airport out of this recession and into a productive and successful future.”

“Boise is a wonderful city. I am honored Mayor Bieter has selected me for the position of Airport Director,” Hupp said. “I look forward to being confirmed by the City Council, beginning work and becoming an active member of the community.”

Hupp’s appointment requires approval of the City Council, which will be considered at the Council’s January 24 meeting. If approved, Hupp is expected to begin work in April. City of Boise IT Director Garry Beaty, who has served as interim airport director since McConnell’s departure, will continue in the role until Hupp’s arrival.
