Shoplifting scheme lands three in jail on felony charges
Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 300 block of North Milwaukee yesterday afternoon. Store employees tell police that they witnessed Kenneth Whitehorn enter the store and conduct a price tag switch and return, in order to obtain a gift card.
During the investigation, officers obtained evidence that all three suspects had been involved in similar schemes at at least three different stores in Boise. Using fraudulent means the suspects have obtained, over the last few days, a least $700.00 in gift cards from local merchants. Officers have evidence that indicates the suspects entered the stores with the intent to commit the thefts resulting in the burglary charges.
The investigation into this case continues and officers have evidence that indicates this was an ongoing fraud scheme taking place in the region. Additional charges may be added at a later time and there may be other victims.
