Prosecutor: County employee groomed teen for sex
The Canyon County Sex Offender Task Force Wednesday announced that Jason Cooperdock, 37, has been arrested on felony charges of sexual battery of a minor under sixteen or seventeen years of age.
Court documents allege that Cooperdock, who was terminated Wednesday from his job at the Canyon County Assessor’s Office, made arrangements to have sex with the minor daughter of a friend after systemically “grooming” the girl, who’s now 16 years old.
In a news release, the Prosecutor’s Office says the “grooming” occurred “through a campaign of sexually graphic text messages.”
Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney Investigator Tony Thompson said, “This is a case where parental involvement overcame the dangers of modern technology.”
The Assessor’s Office assisted the Prosecutor in the investigation.
