Up to 23 USPS locations in Idaho may close
Some post offices may soon be history, and as many as 23 here in Idaho could close their doors forever. The US Postal Service says it’s losing more than 8 billion dollars each year and wants to cut back.
The closures are planned to take affect sometime in November or December. For smaller towns like Ola that may lose their only post office, the postal service says they will have alternatives.
"In some of these locations, where there’s a grocery store or drug store that wants to entertain selling stamps and flat rate packages, we can enter into local businesses to satisfy that requirement," said Robert Vunder, USPS Spokesman.
Thousands of offices could be closed, across the country. The Collister Office in Boise is also on the chopping block. For the full list of possible closures, go to the USPS website.
