A Kuna man in his late seventies was rescued after a big steel I-beam fell on him Tuesday morning.

It happened shortly after 8 a.m.

Kuna Fire Department rescue crews were dispatched to a farm in the 4000 block of South Eagle Road in south Ada County, responding to a call of a man trapped under a tractor.

But when they arrived on the scene, rescuers found that a large steel I-beam had fallen on the man. “The beam somehow slid off the tractor’s bucket and came down on him,” said Assistant Kuna Fire Chief Terry Gammel.

It is unclear why the man was transporting the beam.

“The man was conscious and called 9-1-1 on his own,” Gammell added.

Crews were able to get the man out from under the beam in less than thirty minutes.

He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. “He was stable when we transported him,” Gammel stated.

The man’s name was not released.
