The Idaho Transportation Board approved funding Tuesday to fast-track a project to repave sections of Interstate 84 west of Nampa after potholes recently deteriorated the roadway.

“The Idaho Transportation Department moved up this project from its previously scheduled start in 2018,” said ITD spokesman Jake Melder.

The $14 million project will repave the interstate from the Franklin Road exit (mile post 29) to the Karcher Road exit (mile post 33). This area has been severely damaged from record snow, rain and low temperatures this winter.

“The Department hopes to secure funds for further repavement operations from Karcher Road to the Franklin Boulevard exit (mile post 36), completing new construction on the Interstate from East Boise to Caldwell,” Melder added.
