Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden announced that Idaho has joined several other states and the federal government to settle with Olympus America, Inc., over alleged illegal health care kickbacks.

The whistleblower lawsuit claimed Olympus America and several subsidiaries paid illegal kickbacks to healthcare providers such as doctors and hospital executives if particular surgical equipment was purchased.

The kickback program resulted in the company unlawfully increasing their sales and market share.

As part of the settlement from the lawsuit, Idaho will receive $107,219 in restitution and other recovery.
