The city of Nampa will reopen newly-reconstructed Idaho Center Boulevard on Friday, June 23, one week ahead of schedule.

City work crews are finishing their work on the boulevard between Birch Lane and Cherry Lane -– “resulting in a much smoother ride for motorists between the entrance to the College of Western Idaho (Achievement Drive) and Cherry Lane,” said Nampa city spokeswoman Vicki Holbrook.

“We are very pleased to have completed the project a week ahead of schedule. The contractor was able to complete several critical activities, including boring under the Purdam Gulch Drain, in a manner that accelerated the project,” Assistant City Engineer Jeff Barnes explained.

“The $700,000 project rebuilt the roadway and will increase pedestrian safety because there are wider, paved shoulders. The project also included the installation of water and pressure irrigation and relocation of power poles in the area,” Holbrook said.

Sunroc, Corp. is the project’s contractor.
