Homeless teenagers in the Treasure Valley are receiving a boost thanks to an aspiring Eagle Scout.

Justin Detwiler is a 7th grader at West Junior High School.

As a part of his Eagle Scout project, he's been collecting hygiene supplies.

On Saturday, May 14, the kits will be assembled and distributed to students in need.

Detwiler didn't realize how big of a need there was until he teamed up with United Way.

"My lifestyle living at home... I get food everyday, have clothing, showers. I get to stay clean and brush my teeth," says Justin Detwiler, an aspiring Eagle Scout. "A homeless student probably doesn't have all that stuff."

Detwiler is still in need of deodorant and toothbrushes.

The items can be dropped off at the assembly location Saturday morning. Just head to the LDS church at 2650 S. Five Mile Rd. in Boise.

Detwiler also needs some more volunteers. Anyone who is interested can show up anytime between 9 a.m. and noon. His goal is to disperse 750-1,000 kits to Treasure Valley teenagers in need.
