Police in Nampa are erring on the side of caution after graffiti found inside a Skyview High School bathroom says a school shooting will happen this coming Tuesday.

"We take those types of threats or any threat as far as schools are concerned very seriously," said Sergeant Rob Wiggins with the Nampa Police Department.

Police say the message was found late last week, they are working with the school district to follow up and any leads to find the person responsible. They say they will do extra patrols near the school and may provide extra school resource officers.

"Making threats on school grounds it is a misdemeanor whether or not the threats were actually meant to be carried out is irrelevant, and then obviously on the school side of it, I imagine they would get suspended," said Sergeant Wiggins.

While police are investigating to find the person responsible for the threatening graffiti, they hope it's nothing more than an empty threat.

School district leader says they have notified Skyview High School parents and other High School administers in the district. If you have any information on the case, contact the Nampa Police Department or the Nampa School District.
