The Broadway Avenue Bridge will open for traffic Friday, September 9th, according to the Idaho Transportation Department.

ITD Director Brian Ness, Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, Boise State University President Dr. Robert Kustra and other officials will gather for the opening of the Bridge at 10:30 a.m. on the bridge structure.

“The ceremony is timed to follow last-minute finishes on the bridge and will conclude with dignitaries pulling barriers and opening the project up to traffic,” said ITD spokesperson Jennifer Gonzalez.

Limited parking for the event will be available at Julia Davis Park and Boise State University, with more details on each location to be released next week. Citizens are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to the ceremony if possible.

By 1 p.m., the Broadway Bridge will be fully open with:
• Three lanes in each direction across the structure
• Bicycle lanes on each side of the bridge
• 10-foot wide sidewalks on each side of the bridge
• North and south Greenbelt paths
• All lanes of University Drive, Myrtle and Front streets

“Activity in the work zone will increase in the days before the opening,” said ITD Resident Engineer Daris Bruce. “Safety will continue to be our highest priority. We continue to ask for patience from motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. Please stay out of the work zone and use the designated detour routes.”
