The terror group ISIS is having unexpected consequences for one Tulsa family.

14-year-old Isis Brown has had the name far longer than any terrorist organization, but that doesn't matter to bullies who have made her a constant target.

“I’ve been called a terrorist.”

For the last three years bullies have been relentless, making fun of her name.

“They said, we seen you on the news last night killing us Americans,” Brown said.

Snide remarks, at times has broken her spirit.

“I wanted to fall and cry.”

The bullying got so bad, her mom Doris says she had to transfer schools.

Isis is now in 7th grade at Nathan Hale Junior High.

“They handle it much better than the other school she was at,” Doris Brown, her mother said. “They are really supportive, the teachers are and the principal.”

Isis' dad John says her name actually comes from the Egyptian goddess of health, marriage, and wisdom.

“They always loved her name, thought it was the most beautiful, unique name,” John Brown said. “People always wondered where she got it from.”

Even though her name is rooted in love, it doesn't stop others from spreading hate.

So today, Isis posted a video on Facebook, urging kids in the same situation to be strong and take pride in their name.
