The Idaho Department of Corrections has confirmed that a man accused child enticement was a former captain at the Idaho State Correctional Institution.

Thomas Sammons was hired on June 8th, 2014 and was terminated on May 9th, 2016, Idaho Department of Corrections spokesman Jeff Ray said in an e-mail.

Sammons was arrested on Thursday, June 2nd, after investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were informed by the victim’s mother of “concerning” text messages on her daughter’s phone.

Sammons was booked in Ada County Jail and the investigation is ongoing.
