Heads up sportsmen, if you bought a hunting or fishing tag online before 2008, you may have had your personal information hacked.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game said a data breach of the online computer system is to blame.

They have shut down their online computer license sales system, and don't know when it will be back up again.

Executives for Active Network, the company who owns and operates the website said the data breach took place sometime this summer, but they are not sure that any information was actually taken.

Personal information of buyers, including names, ages, addresses, and social security numbers may have been compromised during the breach, but the company said they are confident that credit card information was not accessible to the hackers.

Fish and Game is now waiting for a third party company to come in and assess the security of the system before they bring it back online.

Fish and Game said if you detect something suspicious with your accounts to call local police and file a report of identity theft.

Fish and Game couldn't give a date as to when they believe the system will be back up and running, but those still looking for hunting and fishing licenses and tags can still get them at roughly 400 businesses statewide, and the Fish and Game office.
