A 25-year-old Boise man is charged with rape, after authorities say he forced himself on a 15-year-old girl Saturday night.

Ada County Sheriff's Office deputies eventually found Corey West walking near a family member’s house on Locust Grove Road near Kuna around 8 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies began their investigation around 11 p.m. Saturday after being called to investigate a report of a rape at a home in the 2300 block of South Locust Grove Road, according to Ada County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Patrick Orr.

The girl told deputies she was in the bathroom in the house when West came inside and sexually assaulted her.

The girl told a friend about the assault -– and the friend called deputies. West left the home before deputies arrived.

“Deputies conducted several interviews with people who know West, and spent hours searching before finding him near the home -- almost nine hours later. Deputies developed evidence West had been actively avoiding them throughout the night,” Orr said.

Detectives booked West into the Ada County Jail. West is also charged with a misdemeanor probation violation.

West is set to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.

The crime of rape is punishable by up to life in prison.
