The Idaho STEM Action Center's Angela Hemingway says the December 16, 2016 deadline for regional science competitions is looming.  Today the number of applications jumped to 115 from the morning, and there is still time for more.

"We're trying to remove any potential barriers that educators might face," said Hemingway, "which are often financial barriers, to ensure that students can compete to get the resources that they need."

The projects can win awards for school districts of around $2,000 for completion and competition at the national level, where millions of prize money is at stake.
