It's almost the weekend and if you don't have plans yet, we have you covered.

This weekend, the Meridian Library District will be celebrating a Mexican holiday that honors the dead.

The official Dia De Los Muertos holiday is coming up on November 1st, but the Meridian Library at Silverstone is celebrating a little early this year.

The holiday honors the dead with festivals and celebrations because it was believed that it was insulting to mourn or show sadness.

Instead, they celebrate with traditions that the dead enjoyed during life.

Families are invited to learn more about the Mexican holiday this Saturday at the The Meridian Library at Silverstone.

You will be able to make your own mask and miniature altar. There will also be free face painting for all those who attend. Prizes will also be handed out.
