COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) -- Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White is scheduled to meet with law enforcement leaders and White House officials to discuss ways to build public trust and confidence in the justice system while maintaining public safety.
The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that White was one of several police chiefs from around the nation selected to attend President Barack Obama's 21st Century Policing Briefing. The event will take place Wednesday at the White House.
White intends to speak about ways to prevent felony crime suspects from being able to board planes, an issue he has brought to the forefront following the March shooting of Coeur d'Alene pastor Tim Remington. Prosecutors say Kyle Odom shot Remington and then fled to Washington, D.C., where he was arrested outside the White House.
