There's some new art on display inside Boise Towne Square Mall that has a special meaning behind it.

A group of young architects are shaping 1,500 donated cans of pet food into art.

This comes after a nine-month canned pet food drive led by the Boise Young Professionals.

The group collected more than 5,000 cans of cat and dog food, and more than $1,200 to benefit the Idaho Humane Society's Pet Food Pantry.

"This has just been a really great project," said Hallie Conde, Leadership Projects Coordinator with the Boise Chamber of Commerce. "We've had a lot of fun and we couldn't have done it without lots of community partners, from people who donated food and money...cash donations that came in."

The art will be on display at the mall through next Sunday, Oct. 8. Afterward, all of the food and the cash will be deliverred to the Idaho Humane Society.

There, it will be used to help provide food for pet foster families, home-bound senior citizens, and others facing economic hardship.
