Man arrested after hit and run, police pursuit in stolen car

NAMPA , ID – A Nampa man is behind bars after police say he rammed an officer vehicle in a stolen car, after fleeing from a hit and run accident.

On June 25, 2016 at 5:17 am, Nampa Police responded to the report of hit and run crash in the area of Northwest Nazarene University. Officers found the suspect vehicle and the suspect tried to flee. During a short pursuit Newell attempted to ram two Police vehicles and struck a third Police vehicle.

The vehicle Newell was driving at the time was discovered to have been stolen in Nampa on Friday.

Jeremiah Newell, 36, of Nampa was arrested and later booked into the Canyon County jail after being treated and released for injuries sustained from a Police K-9 bite during a struggle as officers were attempting to arrest him.

Newell was charged with the following crimes-- Felony Aggravated Battery on Police Officer, two counts of Felony Aggravated Assault on Police Officer, Felony Grand theft by Possession of stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Leaving the scene of a property damage crash and Boise Police Robbery Warrant.
