A 42-year-old Canadian man who thought he was going to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex was instead arrested by detectives from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
John R. Jones, 42, of Chilliwack, British Columbia has been charged with felony enticement of a child over the internet, felony sexual abuse of a child under 16, and lewd conduct with a child under 16.
The investigation started last week after Jones posted a Craiglist ad soliciting sex from teenage girls in the Boise area. A detective noticed the ad and started making contact with Jones. The detective said he was a teenage girl and started exchanging messages with Jones that turned sexually explicit.
Jones made arrangements to meet the “girl” Friday afternoon in a parking lot near the Overland/Cole roads intersection. When he arrived, deputies arrested Jones.
Jones will make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
