Original Story:

The Boise Police Department says a suspect is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Garden City overnight.

The incident began in Eagle around 2 a.m. after police received reports of a suspicious subject on the 2300 block of Elliot St.  Police say a man in a white Dodge Durango took off after they got on scene.  Eagle Police officers pursued the Durango until it reached Glenwood, then backed off for safety concerns.

Boise and Garden City Police officers were responding to the area to assist Eagle officers and found the Durango as it pulled into the parking lot at the Garden City Police Department on East 50th Street.

Investigators say two officers from Boise and two officers from Garden City approached the suspect. Police say the suspect then pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers.

All four officers opened fire.

The suspect hit the accelerator and crashed into the Garden City Police Department main building.

The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene.  Police have not determined his cause of death.  No officers were injured.

Police have not identified the suspect at this time.

The incident is now under investigation by the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force led by Idaho State Police.

A joint press release from the Boise and Garden City Police Departments says any potential video of the incident will be reviewed for evidence.

The names of the officers involved in the shooting have not been released at this time, but will be in the near future.

There was damage to the Garden City Police Department and it remains a crime scene.  Police say normal business will continue throughout the day but citizens can't enter the building.  Officers will still be able to receive calls from the public and patrols will not be impacted.
