Boise Police: Man charged in Sierra Bush murder

Boise Police, in cooperation with police in New York City, have arrested a man for the death of Sierra Bush.

Officials arrested Bruce Marchant, 61, of Boise -– which authorities say is his last known address. He is being charged with murder, rape, and first-degree kidnapping.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7th, Boise Police received information that Marchant was in a New York City hospital -- and BPD detectives flew to New York to assist in his arrest.

Earlier today, Marchant was arrested by New York City Police. Boise Police detectives are in New York continuing the investigation.

Boise Police detectives have been investigating the disappearance and death of 18-year-old Sierra Bush since September.

An arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 6th after an investigation that included conducting nearly 200 interviews.

Detectives from nearly every investigative unit in the department assisted and members of the BPD crime lab did extensive work that was instrumental in making this arrest. Boise Police also had assistance from the Boise County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Boise County Coroner’s Office, Ada County Coroner’s Office and the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit.
