Confronted by our television cameras, Dirty Dash workers waved the camera away.

The  2016 Dirty Dash in the Treasure Valley has been delayed for a second time.  The Race was originally supposed to occur on June 18, but was pushed back until October 8. Area racers reached out to Six on Your Side to look into the issue.

Participants in the Dirty Dash run an obstacle course that involves getting wet and muddy.

Late this afternoon Dirty Dash officials announced the race has been delayed for a second time.  The new date is set for October 22, at the Eagle Sports Complex.  Racers say the company had promised to contact them two weeks before the race date but as of Friday morning many racers had heard nothing, despite reported communication on the Dirty Dash's Facebook page.

The organization said Eagle fire department was behind their decision to cancel due to a recent wildfire by Avimore on Highway 55 -- right by the race.

Race workers said the Dirty Dash has the capability to muddy the parking area to make it safer from accidental ignition and had baled some of the area's growth.  But the race organization said it was due to fire officials that they canceled the race.

Several Dirty Dash participants have expressed concerns to 6 On Your Side about the continued delays and cool fall temperatures.

The terms of buying a race ticket forbid many excuses for issuing a refund, though the race says it will issue a refund in the event of race cancelation. Race organizers also offer a registrant insurance option for $2.99 at the time of the ticket price.

Nonetheless, Brian Pollard, a lifelong athlete and Boise resident said, "We all signed up for a nice, early-summer, warm race.  We don't want to go romping around in the mud in the middle of October when it's 53 degrees outside. So it's pretty much your ultimate bait-and-switch."

6 On Your Side contacted the Better Business Bureau and was directed to their BBB Business Review out of Utah. According to online records The Dirty Dash, LLC out of Salt Lake City has an “F” rating on a scale  of A+ to F.

The latest date of the race is set to start at the 10:00 a.m and go through 1:00 p.m., with runners leaving in waves every 15 minutes.
