Boise City Police are investigating vandalism on BSU's Afro-Black Student Alliance homecoming float as a crime, said John A. Kaplan, of Boise State University's security. The joint investigation was announced today, October 19, 2016, after students with the BSU Afro-Black Student Alliance reportedly met with Boise State security and Boise City Police.

"We have collected some evidence," said Kaplan, "and we are in the process of taking statements and interviewing some people who may have information about this case. We are absolutely 100% committed to finding out what happened and who's responsible."

Kaplan said the time span of several days between the vandalism of the homecoming float and and today's meetings were a matter of logistics.
