Idaho Power crews have turned off power to some 2,500 residents in Idaho City and surrounding areas in order to repair lines and equipment damaged by the Mile Marker 14 fire.

The fire started July 19th and burned some 4,300 acres along Highway 21 in Boise County. Crews wrapped up work on the fire by July 25th.

“We have been working with residents (in Idaho City) and have made aware of the outage,” said Idaho Power spokesowman Lynette Standley.

“The planned maintenance outage started at 7:30 this morning,” she said. “The residents are aware their power could be out all day. However, our crews are working to hopefully restore power as soon as possible.”
