If you are a horror purist, check out the original Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. Universal just released a set of their classic monsters on blu-ray.

Now here are some of Bob Richards' top picks for scariest movies ever (they are all available on DVD or blu-ray):

Insidious is one of the scariest movies I’ve seen in the last several years! Don’t see it alone!

1982’s The Thing – Starring Curt Russell, this film builds tension superbly, with some fantastic effects that still hold up well today.

Alien is still a great, scary film – even if it has been copied so often it’s almost a cliché.

The Descent – I Loved this terrific film! It’s claustrophobic and spooky. The title has two meanings.

The Exorcist is still as shocking and disturbing as it was when it was first released.

Now, here are some of Bob's personal favorite horror movies of all time…

Slither is a modern creature feature that is brilliant. Too many people missed it. I think it’s a must see!

Shawn of the Dead features some jumps and chills along with so many laughs, it’s a ton of fun.

Drag Me to Hell – Sam Raimi’s return to horror is an absolute blast!

Return of the Living Dead is horror comedy about a military chemical that turns corpses into the living dead. I still love this one.

I think Reanimator is the BEST horror-comedy ever made. It’s shocking, gruesome, brutal, disgusting and hilarious.
