Bob Richards' home entertainment preview, Oct. 16
(Moonrise Kingdom – Universal – Rated PG-13)
Moonrise Kingdom is told in Wes Anderson's signature quirky
style. This very entertaining, charming and brilliant film is Anderson's best - and most accessible yet. It is nothing short of wonderful each and every second of its 94 minute runtime. I LOVED this movie. Extras include three featurettes, it’s My Pick of the week!
(A League of Their Own – Sony – Rated PG)
A League of Their Own stars Tom Hanks and Madonna in a great film famous for the line, “There’s No Crying in BASEBALL!” The 20th Anniversary Edition includes commentary, deleted scenes, a documentary and more.
(That’s My Boy – Sony – Rated R)
Crude and extraordinarily crass just for the sake of being filthy, most of the laughs in That's My Boy are the nervous kind…It is inappropriate from beginning to end. Bonus features include a gag reel and deleted scenes. The blu-ray adds two featurettes.
(Check It Out With Dr. Steve Brule – Warner Brothers – Not Rated)
Adult Swim’s Check It Out With Dr. Steve Brule stars the hilarious John C. Reilly in a spoof on cable public access shows from the 80’s. I loved it. It includes 12 episodes from the first two seasons.
(2016 Obama’s America – Lionsgate – Rated PG)
2016 Obama's America builds a very strong case and paints a picture of Obama we haven't heard before. If true, this is very scary - one of the scariest films I've ever seen as it paints a vision for what America might be in 2016.
(The Santa Clause Complete 3 Movie Collection – Disney – Rated PG)
If you are already in the mood for Christmas, here’s the Santa Clause Complete 3 Movie Collection on blu-ray for the first time. Extras include multiple featurettes, deleted scenes, bloopers and more.
(Excision – Anchor Bay – Unrated)
Excision is a film that is definitely not for everyone…and here’s a sentence I never thought I’d say…Annalynne McCord is brilliant in this exceedingly twisted and depraved film. It is both repulsive and entertaining. Extras include commentary.
