YOU’VE ALREADY HEARD FROM A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED THE TEXT?
Several people in the bbb office received the text. Most while gathered around for Thanksgiving dinner. It’s perfect timing for this big holiday shopping weekend – and the bad-guys are getting smarter. Take a look at the selection that arrived during our Thanksgiving. Notice they say this is because of a contest you entered. No misspelled words.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GO TO THE WEBSITE?
I value my privacy and security too much to try it myself, but from years of seeing these scams, we know that in the minutes after the text hits, the website could load a virus on your smartphone, tablet or computer – or – be a really good clone of a website set up to steal your identity and credit card number with something as simple as saying you need to pay a small shipping and handling fee to get your $1,000 gift card.!
