Nampa-based MPC Corporation has filed for bankruptcy. Information provided at the company's website reveals the tech company has filed under Chapter 11 U.S. Bankruptcy Code. MPC does expect operations to continue throughout the reorganization process.
MPC CEO John Yeros said, "Unforeseen issues surrounding our integration of the Gateway Professional business unit, combined with adapting the operations of our manufacturing partner to additional customized requirements have proven more challenging than originally anticipated, and have contributed to extensive losses. We evaluated all strategic alternatives, and concluded that the filing was necessary at this time."
The announcement comes as the state releases more bad news about our economy. Idaho's chief economist, Michael Ferguson says he's had to revise his employment projects. "Even in our July forecast we had a total of about 4800 jobs lost from peak to trough in high tech manufacturing. We've now increased that to about 5400."
