A group of young Boise women are making it their goal to help find a cure for breast cancer, one t-shirt at a time. The message on their shirts is what's drawing the most attention; that message is, "Save the Boobs". Think Pink co-creator Crissie Mcdowell says, "We wanted to do something fun, catch, different, and edgy." They did just that says Lindzee Frei, "I was in the airport, and I'm like why am I getting all these looks? Oh yeah, my shirt."
The message is more personal for Kate Holgate; she lost her mother to the disease this summer, "I feel like my mom's spirit is living through me and living through my daughter. I really want to pass on that spirit of giving and helping others."
The group is going beyond t-shirts and has a planned a concert for the cure, where they hope to raise thousands of dollars in just one night. So mark your calenders to attend the concert Saturday November 8th at the Visual Arts Collective. There is a great line-up of local performers, including Smooth Old Fashioned High, Ned Evett, and Bill Coffee. Tickets are $20 ahead of time or $25 at the door. Every dollar raised goes to the Boise Affiliate of Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
