BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The U.S. Attorney's Office says a Los Angeles man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for bank fraud and aggravated identity theft in Idaho.
Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill sentenced 56-year-old Abdul Tawfiq to 39 months in prison on Wednesday.
Tawfiq pleaded guilty to the charges last year, saying he drove from Los Angeles to Boise where he presented false identification to two banks and tried to withdraw money from other people's bank accounts.
Investigators from the banks and the Secret Service said he had completed similar frauds in several other states.
Danielle Webb was also arrested in connection with the scheme. She was sentenced to 16 months in prison last year.
