A red cell phone was almost ringing off the hook in a back alley off Garden Drive in Boise. Someone anxiously trying to get a hold of the phone’s owner just like Boise Police.
The phone was found in a stolen car from earlier in the day. Darlene Potvin was warming it up to take her son to school, when the thief took off with it. “I said lets go Justin and it was gone,” Potvin said when she picked up the car Thursday night.
The car was spotted just by an officer during the evening commute. The officer started to follow the car, but the driver spotted him and sped away. “This car came out of nowhere out of the right hand lane crossed over Franklin and with in five feet of another car,” one witness told Today’s 6.
Police didn’t chase the car because of the time of day, but got a tip from someone on Garden Drive who saw the car going down a dead end next to a canal. The driver escaped on foot.
As officers processed the car for evidence, they found the cell phone that continued to ring and has given police one of the best clues around to who the suspect is. “That’s being looked at right now we’re hopeful that tonight we’ll be able to find who the suspect is and arrest him,” Boise Police Lt. Alan Cavener said.
