BOISE - The Idaho Transportation will set the last six girders for the Orchard Street bridge on Thursday night (Nov. 19), bringing the interchange reconstruction one step closer to completion.
The girders are scheduled to be placed between 10 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday (Nov. 20). Westbound I-84 will be routed around the bridge by way of the on- and off-ramps at the Orchard Interchange.
The first five-lane section of the reconstructed Orchard Street bridge opened last month. The remaining three lanes will open early next year.
The entire interchange, which will include longer on- and off-ramps and improved roadways around the ramps, is on schedule for a spring 2010 completion.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
