Baldy, Dollar Mountains to Open on Thanksgiving

Sun Valley’s 74th winter season will open Thanksgiving Day with skiing on both Baldy and Dollar Mountains.

Baldy will open with five lifts operating, offering skiing  from top to bottom  on the River Run side and the Warm Springs side of  the mountain.

Lifts open will be River Run #1. Roundhouse Gondola #2, Christmas #3, Challenger #10, and the Kinderspielplatz #15.

Open trails will include Upper College, Flying Squirrel, Lower Picabo, Lower Warm Springs, Roundhouse Lane, Lower and Mid River Run, 42nd Street, and the Kinderspielplatz. Lower River Run also will feature a progressive terrain park through Mid-December.

Lower lifts will run  9 am to 4 pm and top lifts will operate 9 am to 3:45 pm.

Dollar Mountain also will open Thanksgiving Day with  three lifts including Quarter Dollar lift #19, Accelerator Magic Carpet  #17 and Tubing Magic Carpet  #20.

Officials say the Tubing Hill, Poverty Flats, Quarter Dollar Bowl, and portions of Race Hill and Cabin Practice Slope  will  all be open.

For early season, Dollar Mountain will operate November 26-29, December 4-6 and remain open after December 10. On early seasons days that Dollar is not operational, all Dollar passes will be honored on Baldy.

All mountain operations are weather dependent and are subject to change.
