Idaho Advantage Credit Union on W. Emerald near Five Mile was robbed around 9:45 Monday morning.
"He handed a note saying he had a weapon, although it wasn't seen," says Boise Police Spokeswoman Lynn Hightower.
This robbery is the second bank held up in a week in Boise and the fifth within a month in the Treasure Valley.
"Boise police and other agencies are working very closely comparing notes," says Hightower.
Witnesses said the man got away with cash and took off on foot.
Boise police say the recent surge of robberies doesn't mean bank robberies are on the rise.
Police say Boise was actually below average for the crimes in 2009 and 2008.
Boise Police Spokesman Lynn Hightower says it seems higher because of other high profile robberies.
"Bank robbers tend to be serial criminals; they do this crime more than once at different cities and locations," says Hightower.
Boise Police say the suspect doesn't match other descriptions of recent robberies.
The robber is described to be in his late 40's or early 50's, around 6' tall, and around 240 pounds.
Witnesses say he wore a black button up shirt, black dress pants, and black dress shows.
He has short grey hair cut over the ears and a grey goatee and mustache.
