Melba fire victims tentatively identified

Posted: Updated:

MELBA, Idaho (AP) -- Canyon County authorities have tentatively identified the two women who died when fire swept through their home in Melba earlier this week.

Canyon County Coroner Vicki DeGeus-Morris says the two are believed to be twin sisters Konny and Kathy Musil, both 45 years old.

She says positive identification won't be available until forensic dentistry results come back.

The coroner says autopsies showed both women died of smoke inhalation and toxic carbon monoxide poisoning from smoke.

Investigators say the Tuesday morning fire was caused when the wrong extension cord was used for a space heater, which overheated and caught fire.

Melba is about 20 miles southwest of Boise.
