BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Authorities have filed more serious charges against a 48-year-old Cascade man accused of cutting the throat of a neighbor's dog.
Robert Roby was originally cited with four misdemeanors after the incident that occurred last month. The pit bull-type dog survived.
Valley County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Williams amended the complaint, charging Roby with two felonies - malicious injury to property and grand theft. Roby also is charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.
Williams told the Idaho Statesman on Wednesday that he was able to file felony charges because the dog is worth more than $1,200.
Roby's attorney, Scott Erekson, could not immediately be reached for comment.
Roby's preliminary hearing is scheduled Dec. 22 in Valley County.
