Trial set for 2010 in Fatal Bikini Bar Stabbing

The trial of a 31-year-old charged with second-degree murder in a fatal stabbing outside a Boise bikini bar has been scheduled for next year.

Tariq McWilliams, of Idaho City, pleaded not guilty in 4th District Court last week and his trial is to begin in May.

Police were called to the Torch Lounge on Sept. 24 by a witness who said a man had just been stabbed. Emergency workers transported 30-year-old Boise resident Jason Tipton to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police several men were arguing in the parking lot and it escalated into a physical fight just before the stabbing. McWilliams, if convicted, faces up to life in prison.
