The Central District Health Department is getting ready to continue H1N1 flu vaccinations for students in the Meridian and Boise school districts beginning Tuesday December 11st and continuing through mid-January.
"Previous efforts to vaccinate school children in October were discontinued when the supply of vaccine came up short of expectations," said CDHD spokesman Dave Fotsch. "The new round of school-based efforts will focus on middle and high school students and will include plans to vaccinate students in private and charter schools."
The school districts have been working with CDHD to provide parents with information packets, including consent forms, in advance of the teams of nurses visiting schools. Vaccine information sheets and school consent forms can also be downloaded from the CDHD website www.cdhd.idaho.gov.
The vaccination campaign is completely voluntary, and no child will be vaccinated without a consent form signed by a parent or guardian. All vaccine administered through the health department is free.
